A memorial garden to commemorate the life of NUT General Secretary, the late Steve Sinnott was officially opened by his wife, Mary at Stoke Rochford Hall this month.

Steve was General Secretary of the NUT from 2004, having served the Union previously as member of the National Executive, President and Deputy General Secretary.
Stoke Rochford Hall, near Grantham in Lincolnshire, is the national training centre for the NUT and Steve was a regular visitor over many years. He died suddenly on 5 April 2008 aged 56.

An opening ceremony in the memorial garden was attended by family, board members and staff. Neil Foden, Chairperson of Stoke Rochford Hall made a speech before Mary Sinnott unveiled a commemorative plaque in a specially created pavillion overlooking the garden.

Stoke Rochford Hall is an impressive Victorian mansion set in over 28 acres of formal gardens and parkland. The Steve Sinnott Memorial Garden, located in a specially designated area of the grounds, will provide a lasting memorial and perfect retreat for the relaxation and quiet contemplation of future visitors.
