Stoke Rochford Hall was announced the winner of the Business Excellence Award at the annual Grantham Business Awards 2008.
Stoke Rochford Hall was nominated for the award by several members of the public and also received a personal nomination from award sponsors, the Grantham Business Club.
Four companies were short-listed and all attended a Gala Dinner at Belton Woods on Friday 28 November 2008 to hear the winner announced. The other short-listed companies were Belvoir Fruit Farms, property firm Grantham Estates and Rapstrap - recently featured on Dragon’s Den.
Master of Ceremonies and Journal Editor, Tim Robinson announced that Stoke Rochford had won the award for its incredible recovery and restoration following the devastating fire that swept through the building in 2005.
The venue has recently re-opened after undergoing an extensive three-year period of restoration and refurbishment following the blaze, which took three days and 20 fire crews to bring under control. The £12 million restoration has enabled the team at Stoke Rochford to bring improved facilities and greater comfort to the venue. The conference rooms are equipped with the latest audio-visual technology and 15 beautiful new en-suite bedrooms were created in addition to the existing 76 bedroom suites.
An engraved crystal trophy and certificate, was presented on the night by Alistair Hawken and Wade Rowlett, joint Chairmen of the Grantham Business Club.
